Meg Arsenovic
She / Her / Hers
Meg Roberts Arsenovic, (1987) is an artist raised by a leopard-print-clad mother from Long Island, NY and a sailor from Savannah, GA in a rural Virginia town at the intersection of the Pamunkey, Mattaponi, and York rivers of the Chesapeake Bay. She currently lives in Diggs, VA after a long residence in Richmond. Her work processes lessons learned in these contrasting places, primarily through the use of naive colors and children’s art supplies. Meg’s current research involves closely examining the ‘impact events’ of her home region that contribute to Virginia history and ultimately U.S. history, sorting through memories of field trips, Disney versions, and something closer to the truth. This ‘Tidewater’ region includes places like Jamestown, Point Comfort and Werowocomoco.
Meg received her BFA in Craft/Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Her work has been exhibited in solo shows, group shows and traveling exhibitions across the U.S. including The Taubman Museum of Art (Roanoke, VA), Sienna Patti Contemporary (Lenox, MA), and Fiber art International 2019 (Pittsburgh, PA; 2nd Place Prize). Notable residencies include the Haystack Open Studio Residency and the Monson Arts Residency. Her work was recently collected by Bill and Pam Royall.
